Junk Food Advertising

Which Kids Food CampaignBit of a short missive this! Found this Which? campaign aimed at trying to ban food manufacturers from advertising to kids, completely. Lets face it, it is parents that are responsible for the kids diets and therefore there is absolutely no need for food companies to target kids. Unless of course they are using the rather underhanded strategy of using the kids to nag at weak-willed parents. Surely not!

This particular campaign is dead simple. You just fill in your name and postcode and they present you with an email form ready to send to your local MP. You can either use the supplied text, add your own, or, as I did, kind of re-edited it. If you live in the UK, to be honest you have no reason NOT to join this campaign, since I cant believe that you would honestly SUPPORT such devious advertising!

Go for it here! http://www.which.co.uk/campaigns/kids-food/index.jsp

However, there is an additional bit of campaigning which you can do which would be even more direct and effective if we all did it, and would get round the problem of all governments always favouring business over voters. And that is …

Stop buying the rubbish! Fresh food, bit of rescheduling, asking me and others for cooking tips and you could be feeding you and yours healthily, happily and cheaply! Plus, it really will taste better once you get used to much, much, much less salt and sugar!

So, off you go – get to Which and join in with their Kid’s Food campaign.
